1st phase of Gunotsav-2025 concludes, covers over 13 lakh students across 11 districts

Guwahati, Jan 9: The first phase of Gunotsav-2025, a state-wide education quality assessment initiative, concluded on Thursday. Held across 11 districts of Assam, the event evaluated the academic performance and overall development of 13,31,997 students from 15,072 schools, including government, provincialized, and model schools.

The first phase, conducted from January 6 to 9, included the districts of Barpeta, Bajali, Sribhumi, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara-Mankachar, and Udalguri.

A total of 13,31,997 students from classes I to IX of 15,072 schools (Govt./Provincialised schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, Tea Garden Model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalayas and Tea Garden Management schools) evaluated by 16,160 external evaluators in the exercise.

During the evaluation process, 111 (IAS, IPS, IFS, ACS, APS, AFS and Class-I & II officials of state government etc.) took an active part as External Evaluator. Similarly, Hon’ble Ministers,

MPs, MLAs, CEMs, EMs also took part in various schools as External Evaluator and interacted with the students, teachers, parents/guardians, mother groups, community members etc.

On first day of external evaluation on January 7, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and MP Pradan Baruah visited Padma Nath Gohain Baruah High School and Kadam Kachari Adarsha MES under Lakhimpur district and interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members etc.

Similarly, Handloom & Textile  Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma visited KGBV, Patgaon, Patgaon Higher Secondary School, Patgaon and Simbargaon Higher Secondary School, Simbargaon under Kokrajhar district; Sports Minister Nandita Gorlosa visited Binapani High School, Diphu, Diphu Town Primary School, and Jordanlangso LP School, Diphu under Karbi Anglong district; MP Amarsing Tisso visited Longnit Terang L.P. School, Ram Terang Bakalia, Mekbi Athoi English L.P. School, Hemari Timung Gaon, Bakalia and Tikoklangso L.P. School, Dhonsing Terang Gaon, Bakalia under Karbi Anglong district and act as external evaluator and also interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members etc. during their visit.

On second day of external evaluation on January 8, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu visited PM SHRI Thanuram Gogoi Memorial HS School, Station Chariali, BG Road, Sivasagar, No. 2 Town Balika L.P. School, AT Road, Near Hotel Siva Palace, Sivasagar and KBCG Memorial AP Institute, Station Chariali, BG Road under Sivasagar district and interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members etc. Similarly, Environment & Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary visited No. 1 Dalahati Junior Basic, Barpeta Town, Paramesh Talukdar Uccha Madhyamik Vidyalaya  (UMV), Baradi, Barpeta and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Baradi, Barpeta under Barpeta district; Sports Minister Nandita Gorlosa visited C.C.I (PVN) ME School, Bokajan, Rabindra Vidyapith L.P School, Bokajan and Vivekananda ME School, Bokajan under Karbi Anglong district; BTCLA Speaker Katiram Boro visited Dimalgaon ME School, Dimalgaon, Bipin Bihari Prov. ME School, Titaguri (Part-II), Abinash Roy Smriti ME School-NP, Titaguri (Part-I) and No.37 Simbargaon LP School, Simbargaon under Kokrajhar district and act as External Evaluator and also interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members etc. during their visit.

On third day of external evaluation on Thursday, Environment and Forest Ministe Chandra Mohan Patowary visited Salesala Lp School, Rampur, Kamrup district and Sports Minister Nandita Gorlosa visited Sikarighat Jirsong ME School, Sikarigat, Bakalia, Udali ME School, No1. Udali, Bakaliaghat, Jeng Rongpi Eng. High School, Tarabasa, Karbi Anglong district.
MP Amarsing Tisso visited TIKOKLANGSO L.P.SCHOOL., Tikoklangso Karbin Anglong district and interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians etc. and also act as external evaluator.
The external evaluators evaluated the performance of the students on scholastic in both skill (reading, writing & numeracy/basic mathematical operations) & subject areas and school evaluation areas (co-scholastic & other areas, community participation & contributions, school uniform, infrastructure etc.).
Further, the 2nd Phase of Gunotsav-2025 will be held from January 17 to 22 in 14 districts (Baksa, Charaideo, Chirang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Golaghat,Hailakandi, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup (Metro), Sonitpur, Tamulpur, Tinsukia and West Karbi Anglong), where Self Evaluation will be on 17th January 2025 and External Evaluation will be from 20th to 22nd January 2025. A total of 15,663 schools (Govt./Provincialised schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, Tea Garden Model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalayas and Tea Garden Management schools) and 14,14,932 students from classes I to IX will be covered in 2nd Phase of Gunotsav 2025. Total 6,253 external evaluators will be participated in 2nd phase of evaluation.
