2 militants arrested in Manipur

Imphal, Jan 29: Two militants were arrested in separate operations in Manipur’s Thoubal and Imphal West districts, police said on Tuesday.

A member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibangnganba) was arrested from Waithou-Thiyam IVR in Thoubal on Monday, they said.

He was identified as Sapam Paikhomba Meitei (26), they added.

A wireless handset and six 9 mm live rounds were seized from him, police said.

A 32-year-old member of the banned KCP (MFL) was arrested from Thongju Pechulampak Pukhri in Imphal West district. He was identified as Samom Davidson Meitei, alias Loya, they said.

He was accused of extorting owners of shops located in and around the Singjamei-Thongju area, police said.(PTI)
