5 workers killed, four injured as borewell drilling truck falls into ravine in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Jul 11: Five workers were killed and four others injured after a borewell drilling truck they were travelling in fell into a small ravine in Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district on Friday, police said.

The accident occurred in the wee hours of the day near Chata village under the Kukdur police station area, Kabirdham Additional Superintendent of Police Pushpendra Singh Baghel said.

He said the vehicle was coming from neighbouring Madhya Pradesh.

As per preliminary information, the truck, with nine people onboard, plunged into a small ravine and overturned, he said.

The official said three of the occupants died on the spot, and others were rushed to a hospital, where two more succumbed to their injuries.

Four injured persons were undergoing treatment, he said, adding that the identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained.(PTI)
