Shillong, Sept 22: The state education department has assured the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) of submitting a proposal before the Cabinet to regularise the services of 12,541 SSA teachers in the state.
During the association’s meetings with director of School Education and Literacy and State Project Director of SSA, Swapnil Tembe on September 10 and commissioner & secretary Vijay Mantri on September 19, it was informed about preparation of a cabinet memorandum for regularisation of services or to merge the SSA teachers from the State Implementation Society to the Education department, said MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai in a video statement after a meeting of the association on Saturday.
The MSSASA meeting, meanwhile, discussed issues related to the demand for salary enhancement and regularisation of the services of SSA teachers.
“After threadbare discussion, which lasted almost 3 hours, we unanimously decided to opt for regularisation of our services and resolved to take up this matter in the general meeting of all SSA teachers in Meghalaya, to be held in October at Madan Student, Jaiaw. Therefore, we appeal to all SSA teachers to attend the meeting so that we can take a final decision on the matter,” Rymbai added.
