He was accompanied by MK Singh, IPS, Commandant General of Home Guards and Civil Defence, Vijay Kumar Mantri, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, CDHG, and Senior Officers of the Civil Defence and Home Guards Department.

Before taking the decision to postpone the test, the minister also met the candidates scheduled to participate in Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) on Friday.

PET is being conducted for 445 vacant posts including 4 posts of Sub-Inspector, 284 posts of Guardsman, 17 posts of Driver and 140 posts of Non-Combatant Employees (NCE) in two centres, Tura and Shillong.

Altogether 22,474 candidates have been provisionally accepted for all the 4 posts – Sub-Inspector, Guardsman, Driver and Non-Combatant Employee (NCE).

While PMT and PET started in Tura from 16 September and concluded on 26 September, the same commenced in Shillong from 30 September and scheduled for 8 October respectively.

PET in Shillong was held till 3 October before being postponed for the next scheduled days – 4, 5, 7 and 8 October until further notice due to the inclement weather and weather warning.

The candidates qualified in PMT and participated in PET on 2nd and 3rd October will be provided an opportunity to participate in PET again, the minister said.

“However, the marks scored in PET on these two days by such candidates who opt to participate in PET again, will be declared null and void. The Board will consider only the marks scored in PET conducted in a fresh date for the purpose of selection,” Ymbon added.
