NEIGRIHMS’ ‘Spare the Uterus’ emphasises on women’s health

Shillong, Oct 29: The burning issue and current trend of performing unnecessary caesarean sections and hysterectomy were highlighted during a conference held at NEIGRIHMS recently where members of the Shillong Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society (SOGS) actively participated.

Organised by Prof (Dr) Ananya Das, Department of Obs & Gyne, NEIGRIHMS, the CME stressed on the important topic “Spare the Uterus: Judicious Caesarean Section and Hysterectomy” and was inaugurated by Prof. Nalin Mehta, NEIGRIHMS director.

Appropriate indications for doing such surgeries and the ways to reduce unwanted surgeries were thoroughly deliberated upon.

Eminent Gynecologists, Dr. Parul Kotdawala, Chairman of Indian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ICOG) and Dr. Sonal Kotdawala from Ahmedabad were the resource persons for the CME that was highly acclaimed and very well received.

Dean NEIGRIHMS Prof A S Singh, and dignitaries of Shillong Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society were present during the CME.
