People of Gambegre turning to us because others failed to deliver, says CM

Gambegre, Nov 1: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday spoke at an election meeting in Mellim area of Gambegre where he mentioned about the “overwhelming” support of voters for his party and candidate Mehtab Chandee A Sangma due to the “progressive” work of his government.

“People of Gambegre have faced immense problems due to bad roads, lack of basic amenities to life. Many parties and leaders have met them and promised change that never happened. But they have seen our government deliver on promises which is why we are receiving overwhelming support from the people in this election,” says Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to crowds of cheering supporters.

In a major show of strength by the NPP, Rajya Sabha MP Dr WR Kharlukhi, power minister Abu Taher Mondal and PHE minister Marcuise Marak, landed at Gambegre with other leaders of the party to campaign alongside the chief minister for Mehtab Chandee A Sangma.

Seeing bleak future leaders deserting TMC, says Conrad

NPP President and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has taken on arch rival All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) saying that grassroot workers and leaders in Gambegre are deserting the party in droves realizing a bleak future with the West Bengal centered party.

“Several of them ( TMC leaders) called on me and expressed their desire to sever ties with the TMC and join us. They are disillusioned with their candidate because as an MDC of GHADC for two terms she has said she cannot do much being in the opposition. So now her workers and supporters are worried that if she is to be elected from Gambegre she will once again cite the opposition card to claim lack of development. That is why people are coming to us realizing there is potential to turn Gambegre around for the better,” said Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
