Syiem offers land for ‘airport’ at Sohra

Shillong, Nov 9: Airport at Sohra? Who knows it may happen some day! Then one of the persons to be credited for could be Freeman Singh Syiem, the Syiem of Hima Sohra, who has offered land for an airport under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme.

The traditional chief made the proposal during his meeting with governor CH Vijayahankar at Raj Bhavan on Friday.

The UDAN scheme, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and providing affordable air travel to underserved areas, aligns with the state’s vision for improved infrastructure and tourism.

Expressing gratitude for Syiem’s initiative, the governor assured him that the proposal would be forwarded to the relevant authorities for consideration.
