Williamnagar Sacred Heart Church celebrates its Parish Day

Williamnagar, Nov 10: Offerings and prayers marked celebrations of Williamnagar’s Sacred Heart Parish Day that began on Thursday and culminated on Sunday with a Eucharistic procession that was participated by Catholics from far and wide together with congregations of nuns and priests from the region.

Parish Day serves as a time for members to come together, strengthen their faith, and celebrate shared beliefs and values. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the parish’s history, renew commitments to serve one another, and welcome new members into the community.

On Sunday, Fr. Lenus R. Marak of Jengal Parish conducted Holy Mass and in his sermon reminded the congregation of God’s boundless love, drawing on the story of the prophet Elijah and the widow of Zarephath.

“During a time of drought and famine, Elijah asked the widow for water and bread, though she only had a handful of flour and a little oil, enough for one last meal for her and her son. Elijah assured her that God would provide, and miraculously, her flour and oil did not run out until the famine ended,” said Father Lenus while quoting from the holy Bible.

He shared that this story is a testament to how God loves people when they love others unconditionally. He encouraged everyone to always offer their best to God and advised parents to consider sending their most beloved children to serve as priests.

On this special day, around 104 children received their First Communion, marking a significant milestone in their faith’s journey.

Following the Mass, a Eucharistic procession took place as a public demonstration of faith, reverence, and devotion to the presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. The consecrated Eucharist was carried through the streets, from the Fire Brigade Junction to the DC Office Junction via Soil Junction, and back to Sacred Heart Parish. This act symbolizes the belief that Christ’s presence brings blessings and sanctifies the area, representing God’s protection and grace over the community.
