Water woe forces society to write to PHE dept

Shillong, Nov 12: The Police Bazar Welfare Society on Monday urged the authority of the PHE department to address the problem of acute water shortage in the area.

In a letter to the PHE executive engineer, the society said that it had submitted a letter of complaint by the residents of Thana Road vide letter dated April 15, 2024 about non receipt of water in the area but no action has been taken till date.

“In the meantime, we also complained about the same problem in our area. Last month, we were told that the officials from PHE and SMB will visit the area to take stock of the situation but nobody turned up and till today no action has been taken either by the PHE or SMB. In this connection, we had also written to the CEO, SMB regarding the same, a copy of which is enclosed herewith,” the society stated in the letter.

“We would therefore once again request the concerned authority to look into the matter at the earliest, as nearly 6-7 months have elapsed to our complaint, but not solution is in sight as a result there is acute water shortage in the area,” it said.
