₹109 cr paid as scholarships to 49,628 beneficiaries

Shillong, Nov 25: The Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, Meghalaya has received ₹109 crore from Central and state governments for disbursal of scholarships to 49,628 beneficiaries.

Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs provided ₹98.09 crore as the Central Share and the rest ₹10.9 crore came from Government of Meghalaya as Equivalent State Share.

The 49,628 beneficiaries have already been paid their scholarships.

The first instalment of ₹42.32 crore was received and paid to 17,364 beneficiaries and the second instalment of ₹666.67crore was paid to 32,064 beneficiaries.

The remaining 27,127 beneficiaries would be paid after receipt of the third instalment of funds from Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

“We are committed to ensuring that all eligible students receive their scholarships in a timely manner,” said the Director of Higher and Technical Education.
