Shillong, Nov 26: Medhavi Skills University (MSU) and the North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC), operating under the Chairmanship of Secretary North Eastern Council (NEC), Government of India, have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate bamboo-based startups and innovation in the bamboo industry.
This collaboration harnesses the strengths of both organizations to drive sustainable growth, enhance employability, and create valuable opportunities for youth in Northeast India.
The initiative combines Medhavi Skills University’s expertise in industry-oriented skill-based education with NECBDC’s specialization in cane and bamboo development. Together, they aim to create innovative educational pathways that address the unique skill demands of the region’s evolving economic landscape.
Key elements of the collaboration include:
Incubation Centers: Supporting bamboo-based startups with infrastructure, mentorship, and funding opportunities.
Research & Development: Advancing bamboo-based solutions, sustainable harvesting, and the promotion of bamboo as an eco-friendly resource.
Centers of Excellence: Providing training in bamboo crafts, technology, and value-added products, fostering skill development and national capacity building.
Mr. Kuldip Sarma, Co-Founder and Pro-Chancellor of MSU, stated, “This partnership focuses on vocational training in cane and bamboo technologies, integrating practical skills with formal education. It aims to empower local communities and support sustainable economic growth in the Northeast.”
