Border talks soon, says CM

Shillong, Nov 27: Chief minister Conrad K Sangma has admitted that elections and “complications” arising out of elections results have delayed the second phase of border talks with Assam but promised to do the needful to resume the process soon.

Asserting continuance of official communications on the matter, the chief minister said, “We have been communicating but in between we had elections, by-elections and other things… so it has been quite complicated,”

Ruling out any “other factor” behind the delay, Sangma said the government had been tied up with several issues.

“We hope that will be able to resume the talks and meet very soon,” he said.

Sangma said the he would be able to announce the date for CM-level talks only after consulting with his counterpart.
