Guv inducted as IRCS president 

Shillong, Nov 29: Governor C H Vijayashankar was formally inducted as the president of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Meghalaya State Branch during the annual general meeting held at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

The annual report for 2023-24 was presented highlighting the key achievements, initiatives, and activities undertaken by the society over the past year detailing the efforts made by the IRCS Meghalaya State Branch in providing humanitarian assistance, promoting health awareness, and organizing disaster relief and preparedness programs.

The IRCS team also presented a proposal for constructing a new building to enhance the society’s operational capacity and outreach in the state. The proposed infrastructure is envisioned to better equip the Society to deliver its services and support its mission of serving vulnerable communities in Meghalaya.

In his address, the  Governor emphasized the importance of strengthening the Red Cross network to address emerging challenges in disaster response, healthcare, and social welfare.
