Five from Meghalaya to attend 2025 Republic Day parade in New Delhi

Shillong, Jan 10: In a momentous honor for Meghalaya, five distinguished individuals from Meghalaya have been selected to attend the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, on January 26. They will join 30 other representatives from the Northeast including eight from Assam and 22 from Sikkim.

These individuals are among 10,000 special guests invited nationwide to witness the parade.

These special guests include women entrepreneurs, National Award winners, and beneficiaries of flagship government schemes. Special attention has been given to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) members who work to boost income generation, protect the environment, improve health and nutrition, promote sanitation, and strengthen Panchayati Raj institutions. A key selection criterion was prioritizing those who have never visited Delhi.

The visit will offer more than just a viewing of the Republic Day Parade. The guests will also tour iconic landmarks such as the National War Memorial and the PM Sangrahalay. Furthermore, they will participate in interactive sessions with government ministers, providing them with a deeper understanding of India’s heritage and current government initiatives.
