6th Meghalaya Games 2025
Williamnagar, Jan 16: The East Garo Hills District Sports Office organised a grand Send-Off Ceremony on Thursday for the athletes, coaches, and managers from East Garo Hills who will be participating in the upcoming 6th Meghalaya Games 2025 at Jowai.
A total of 180 sportspeople, including athletes, coaches, and team managers, will be representing East Garo Hills at the prestigious event.
The Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills, Vibhor Agarwal, graced the event as the chief guest and shared his valuable insights with the attendees.
In her address, the District Sports Officer of East Garo Hills, Babira G. Momin, urged all the athletes to carry themselves with dignity, respect, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. She emphasized that while medals are a significant achievement, true victory lies in the values of teamwork, discipline, and fair play. She encouraged the athletes to stay focused on their performance, highlighting that success is defined not just by awards, but by the integrity they bring to the field.
In an interaction with this reporter, several athletes and coaches expressed their confidence in bringing home medals for East Garo Hills. Their determination and commitment were evident as they spoke about their readiness to compete at the highest level.
Reflecting on the significance of the event, deputy commissioner Vibhor Agarwal said, “I am incredibly proud of these athletes. The Meghalaya Games provide them with a huge platform to showcase their skills, which they have honed over months of hard work and dedication. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them to compete and prove their potential on a state level. I wish them all the best of luck, and I am confident they will do East Garo Hills proud.”
