East Khasi Hills dominates Boxing arena, clinches 9 Gold

Jowai, Jan 25: The boxing arena at the 6th Meghalaya Games witnessed a spectacular display of skill and determination as East Khasi Hills emerged as the dominant force, bagging 9 gold medals, securing an impressive total of 30 medals in both Men and Women categories. West JaintiaHills and Ri-Bhoi districts finishes with nine and seven medals, respectively. The boxing ring at Chutwakhu Indoor Sports Hall, Jowai became the stage for intense bouts & battles of talented boxers from across Meghalaya. 

Men’s Category:

In the Men’s 48kg category, Dabetmiki Dhar of WJH secured the gold, while Daminit Lyngdoh from RBD claimed the silver.Wilfred Kharmawlong of Eastern West Khasi Hills and PynshailangSohshang of West Khasi Hills both earned bronze medals.

Moving to the 51kg category, KhrawbokMarwein of East Khasi Hills again clinched the gold, with Durlang Dhar from WJH securing silver. Manav Biswa & Sanjeev Maskut of EKH took home bronze medals.

In the 54kg category, Sunil Limbu of East Khasi Hills showcased his prowess, winning the gold, while Kapil Burman from RBD earned the silver. DeibomitreKhonglah of WJH and Prashant Dorjee of EKH received bronze medals.

Lamshai Rani from East Khasi Hills dominated the 57kg category, securing the gold, while WanshaiShyrkhon from West Khasi Hills earned silver. Jeremy Gurung and Kiran Sumar Biswa, both from East Khasi Hills, claimed bronze medals.

The 60kg category witnessed a battle of champions, with Tusar Gurung of East Khasi Hills securing the gold, and KordorMarwein from East Khasi Hills earning silver. Jona Kharkrang of EKH and Ram Lyngdoh of East Khasi Hills both received bronze medals.

Rishanlang Lyngdoh of East Khasi Hills dominated the 63.5kg category, winning the gold, while Winner Talang from West Jaintia Hills secured silver. Basilbirth Sangma of East Garo Hills and Albert Marwein of RBD both claimed bronze medals.

In the 67kg category, BhalangShadap of West Jaintia Hills emerged as the gold medalist, with LamphrangShullai from EKH securing silver. Daniel Jyrwaof East Khasi Hills and SidariusSyiemlieh of West Khasi Hills earned bronze medals.

BaiamutlangSungoh of West Jaintia Hills showcased his strength in the 71kg category, winning the gold, while Lastbirth M Marak from West Garo Hills secured silver. Aidan-o-Warbah of East Khasi Hills and Alan D M Sangma claimed bronze.

In the 75kg category, Balnas Sangma of West Garo Hills secured the gold, and Krishna Prasad Gupta of EKH earned silver. Surojeet Deyand Mankhrawkupar K Lyngksiar of East Khasi Hills both claimed bronze medals.

Women’s Category:

In the fiercely contested 48kg category, Rosa Maslai of Ri Bhoi showcased her exceptional boxing skills, securing the gold medal. Veronica Sohshang, from West Khasi Hills, demonstrated remarkable sportsmanship, earning a silver medal. The bronze medals in this category went to Sophia N Suchiangand Janvi Chettri from East Khasi Hills.

The 50kg category saw another gold for East Khasi Hills, with Sonia Tamang emerging victorious. Rozia Nongsiej, also representing East Khasi Hills, secured the silver, while DaffiniKhongjeealsofrom EKH and RikyntiMarwein from RBDshared the bronze medals.

MellinaBasaiamoitcontinued East Khasi Hills’ winning streak in the 52kg category, securing the gold. Gabriella Kahit from EKH clinched the silver, while Tedricia Lamare from WJHsettled with the bronze honors.

Under 54 kg, Eva WaynieMarbaniang EKH bagged gold by dominating the woman category.Under 57 kg, Riteeka Sarki topped the chart by bagging gold. Basiadiamiki Talang WJH settled for Silver while; West Khasi Hills and Eastern West Khasi Hills shared bronze. In 60 kg, Ri Bhoi’s Rishisha Jana showed prowess of strength by bagging gold exemplifying the dominance in Boxing.
