Shillong, Jan 31: Seasoned entrepreneurs from across the state converged at the Business Facilitation Centre (BFC) of Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to brainstorm on means of accelerating industrial growth by utilising various government schemes.
Aimed at promoting Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme (UNNATI) 2024 and Meghalaya Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (MIIPP) 2024, it was the first-of-its-kind awareness programme held at the BFC.
It’s a crucial step toward realising the Chief Minister’s vision of transforming Meghalaya into a $10 billion economy, stated a press release.
Entrepreneurs and their representatives from various industrial hubs, including Byrnihat Industrial Area EPIP, industrial units in Umian, Industrial Growth Centre in Garo Hills, and Bamboo Park in Ri-Bhoi took part on the occasion.
MIDC chairman James PK Sangma, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Today’s event not only demonstrates our commitment to industrial growth but also our dedication to establishing Meghalaya as a hub for innovative entrepreneurship, aligning with the Chief Minister’s ambitious economic goals.”
“Active participation and positive feedback from today’s sessions are indicative of the substantial potential that UNNATI and MIIP hold for transforming Meghalaya economy in the region,” said MIDC managing director DD Nongmalieh.
During the programme, National SC-ST Hub chief manager presented an overview of the schemes under the Hub, specifically tailored to support SC/ST entrepreneurs and how the MSME is committed to going extra mile to assist entrepreneurs in the North East.
Northeast DPIIT PIU team delivered a detailed presentation on UNNATI, outlining the scheme’s objectives and benefits specifically designed for the Northeastern region.
The state’s entrepreneurs have an amazing road ahead with these incentives from both the central and state governments, said head of BFC and advisor to MIDC, Kerlang Malngiang.
