Guwahati, Feb 4: In a significant breakthrough under Operation PRAGHAT, aimed at dismantling fundamentalist networks and Global Terrorist Organizations (GTO) across the country, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam, in collaboration with Kokrajhar Police, has successfully arrested a key terror operative.
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, STF Assam launched a swift operation in the early hours of February 3, leading to the arrest of Nasim Uddin SK, a suspected member of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JAM). The accused was a close associate of Nur Islam Mandal, a previously arrested prime suspect in the case, and had been evading law enforcement since December 17, 2024.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused was deeply involved in procuring weapons and manufacturing IEDs intended for extremist activities. His arrest is a major blow to radical elements attempting to destabilize national security and disrupt India’s sovereignty.
The individual has been booked under several stringent laws, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, the Arms Act, and the Foreigners Act. Following his production before the court, he has been remanded to police custody for seven days.
Security agencies continue to probe the wider terror nexus, which is believed to have deep-rooted cross-border links. STF Assam remains committed to neutralizing extremist threats and safeguarding national security.
