Two arrested for bomb scare: Security tightened ahead of ADC polls

Shillong, Feb 5: Tight security arrangement will be in place for polling station across the state for the Autonomous District Council polls on February 21.  

Informing this, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said, “Platoons have already been deployed, and additional forces are being stationed at 34 vulnerable and five critical polling stations.”

In East Khasi Hills alone, voting will be held in 931 polling stations. 

Syiem said every polling station will witness intensified security measures, including mobile patrols, tactical patrolling, night checkpoints (nakas), and routine security checks to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process.

Meanwhile, police arrested two individuals in connection with an alleged bomb threat message. The suspects had reportedly threatened to carry out multiple bomb blasts in Shillong.
