CRPF chief GP Singh meets Assam CM in New Delhi

Guwahati, Feb 14: Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), GP Singh, met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at his official residence in New Delhi on Friday. The meeting, described as a courtesy call, marked Singh’s first official interaction with the Chief Minister since assuming office as DG, CRPF.

During the meeting, Singh presented a memento and a bouquet to the Chief Minister as a gesture of goodwill. Officials noted that while the visit was formal, it underscored the long-standing association between Singh and Assam’s security apparatus.

A 1991-batch IPS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Singh previously served as Director General of Assam Police for nearly two years before being appointed DG, CRPF by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Following the meeting, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Assam, shared an update on the microblogging platform X, stating, “Director General of @crpfindia, Shri @gpsinghips, called upon HCM Dr. @himantabiswa in New Delhi today for a courtesy meeting.”
