Burglars clean out CBI Office—even doors stolen!

Agartala, Feb 15: In a heist that could leave even seasoned criminals shaking their heads, burglars didn’t just steal valuables from a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) camp office in Agartala—they cleaned it out entirely! From steel almiras and chairs to electric appliances, doors, and even windows, nothing was spared.

The audacious crime came to light on February 11, 2025, when CBI officials revisited the camp office at Shyamali Bazar quarter complex—only to find themselves staring at bare walls. The office, which had been closed for over five months, had been meticulously stripped down in a theft so thorough it was almost professional.

Following a complaint by Inspector Anurag of CBI, police launched an investigation under Sub-Inspector Jainal Hussain. Initial interrogations led to the arrest of two suspects, Biplab Debbarma and Raju Bhowmik, who soon revealed that this was no ordinary robbery—it was a full-scale dismantling job. Four more suspects were nabbed, all from the adjoining Shyamali Bazar and Khejur Bagan areas.

In an operation carried out under the supervision of an executive magistrate, police successfully recovered: Eight steel almiras, Seven wooden doors, Four windows, A geyser, Four chairs.

The sheer audacity of the theft—targeting the office of the country’s premier investigative agency—has left many stunned. The suspects, now in custody, will be produced in court, while the police continue investigating whether more stolen items (or even bigger schemes) are yet to be uncovered.
