Centre releases Rs 85 crore for post matric scholarship

Shillong, Mar 21: The Centre has released the final instalment of “Umbrella Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship” for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students of Meghalaya for the academic session 2023-24.

Informing this on Friday, chief minister Conrad K Sangma said the final instalment amount of Rs 85.08 crore released on Friday will be paid to 27,327 students.

The first instalment of Rs 42.32 crore was released on 24 June 2024 and paid to 17,364 students and second instalment of Rs 66.67 crore released on 20 November 2024 was paid to 32,064 students.

The funds will reflect in students’ accounts within the next one-two days, he said.

“The State Government is committed to improving and accelerating the scholarship process each year to ensure even quicker support for our talented students!” he wrote on X.
