Congress holds youth leadership training in Tura

Tura, March 22: In a bid to strengthen its youth force across the Garo Hills region ahead of next year’s Garo Hills Autonomous District Council elections, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) organized a daylong leadership training for its party youth at the SMELC building in Dakopgre, Tura on Friday.

The training, spearheaded by senior Congress leaders Deborah Marak- former Working President of MPCC and former Deputy Chief Minister, and AICC Secretary in charge of Meghalaya Mathew Anthony, laid emphasis on equipping its youth leaders with essential training for the future.

The participants were treated to a variety of ideas involving public speaking and leadership roles.

Personality development, public speaking, professional communication, problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills were among a series of points taken up during the training session.

Opening the training camp, senior Congress leader Deborah Marak, reiterated on the importance of empowering the youth. “The youth are the backbone of our society. By investing in their development, we are investing in the future of Garo Hills and Meghalaya,” she stated.

AICC Secretary in charge of Meghalaya, Mathew Antony echoed her sentiments, highlighting the need for continuous learning and adaptation in a rapidly changing scenario.

Congress leader from Shillong Manuel Badwar also gave a crucial presentation on the importance of public speaking and leadership roles.
