BSF seizes 1,730 bottles of cough syrups

Shillong, Apr 16: BSF has seized bottles of Phensedyl, a banned cough syrup, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh on Monday.

The troops conducted an operation based on a tip-off and recovered 1,730 bottles of Phensedyl concealed near the border with Bangladesh. The seized items were handed over to the police station concerned for further action.

In another incident, three Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended while attempting to infiltrate into Indian territory by BSF troops deployed in Dawki. The arrested were identified as Faruk Ahmed (37), resident of Mymensingh distric; Md Samim (49 years), resident of Dhaka district; and Md Sushu Miya (39), resident of Chandpur district, Bangladesh. 

They were handed over to Dawki Police Station for further legal action.
