HYC to assist BSF in border vigil

Shillong, Apr 25: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has decided to lend assistance to the Border Security Force (BSF) in guarding the international border with Bangladesh against infiltration and other cross-border crimes.

HYC members from Jatap and Shella units met BSF officials on Friday to express their concern over increasing border crimes including illegal infiltration/exfiltration of Bangladeshi nationals.

During the meeting, the HYC representatives apprised the BSF officials of security threat posed to local villagers by increasing acts of cross border crimes and illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals, said B Natep, vice-president of HYC Shella unit.

He said the HYC members urged the BSF to keep a strong vigil along the international border and make all out efforts to thwart all kinds of cross border crimes.

Meanwhile, the HYC the BSF of cooperation and assistance in keeping the borders safe and secured, he said.

The meeting also jointly resolved to work together and fight against the menace of smuggling and illegal infiltration/exfiltration, he added.
