Shillong, Apr 28: Students of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on Monday registered strong opposition against the deployment of police forces inside the campus of the university.

They asked the district magistrates to immediately direct all police forces to leave the campus.

“The solution is that you leave our university and station anywhere. Do not enter our university without any permission. This includes both state police and central police as well,” one of the students said.

The FIR filed by the teacher was registered with the Mawkynroh police outpost. Based on which, today police arrested the president of the North Eastern Hill University Students Union (NEHUSU) Sandy Sohtun.

The FIR has also mentioned the presence of five other students during the incident.
