
Ampati, Apr 30: Moving closer to ensuring adequate healthcare for people in the rural areas of South West Garo Hills district, Mahendraganj MLA and Adviser to Meghalaya Government, Sanjay A. Sangma, on Tuesday handed over seven ambulances through his constituency’s Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) scheme.

A special handing over programme of one such ambulance to St. Anne’s School in Garagre Village (under Zikzak C&RD Block) took placd on Tuesday, completing the distribution of all seven vehicles allocated for the 2023–24 and 2024–25 fiscal years.

These ambulances will immensely benefit people living in the far flung remote areas of the region ensuring timely medical assistance during emergencies.
The MLA, Sanjay A Sangma, who is a native of Boldamgre village in the region, recalled hid childhood days and memories of the immense hardships faced by many families due to lack of timely medical assistance for pregnant women. Bearing witness to those challenges, he emphasized that the donations are driven by a deep commitment to serve the people of his constituency.

Apart from healthcare, multiple waiting sheds have been constructed under his watch to provide shelter for commuters, especially during the scorching summer months, and also construction of fully blacktopped border roads and bridges, helping to ease transportation and improve mobility in the region.

Addressing the public, Sangma said, “Of course, there are many challenges to be addressed in my constituency, but I will continue to take a wholehearted interest in developing my area. As a local boy, I understand the struggles of my people, and I will ensure that such initiatives bring real relief to them.”
