Alumni meet calls for making USTM a ‘world-class institution’

Shillong, May 10: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) on Saturday organised an alumni meet, aligning with silver jubilee year celebration of the institution.

The institution started as CITC before becoming USTM under ERDF where more than 40,000 students received education in its various institutions, stated a press release.

The event brought together former students from across the country and abroad, it said.

The event was attended by USTM chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, vice-chancellor Prof GD Sharma along with other officials of USTM and all the other institutions under ERDF.

A panel discussion on “Humble Beginning and Milestone 2030: Role of Alumni” was moderated by Dr Amit Choudhury and NI Laskar.

In his address, Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque said the celebration acknowledges the role of USTM’s alumni who carry forward its mission in their personal and professional lives.

On the occasion, ‘PIMC Alumni Health Card’ was launched for providing health care facilities to families of the alumni.

The alumni meet made an appeal to make USTM a world-class institution by 2030.
