Shillong, May 15: The ruling NPP’s Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla on Wednesday said he would take a call on his support to the demand for making Jowai the state’s summer capital only after discussing with all stakeholders.
The matter came up following the demand for Jowai as summer capital raised by Jaintia Students Union (JSU), in reaction to the growing demand Tura as winter capital.

“I will not be able to say much as it depends on the government but if it is possible and viable, I will be very happy,” said the legislator of National People’s Party (NPP) in reaction to the JSU’s demand.
However, he said, the demand is still in a very initial stage and that there is need to gather more public views and opinions on the matter.
The demand for Jowai as summer capital is at its very initial stage as only a few groups have so far raised it, he pointed out.
Assuring that he would discuss it with the concerned groups,” the MLA said, “If everyone is really on for this, I will pursue it with the government.”
