The JSU Jowai Circle, in a statement, cited violation of noise pollution norms and threat to public safety, emergency medical access, etc., among reasons behind its opposition.

In a statement, the JSU claimed that district authorities are unaware of any permission granted to the festival.

“Hosting a large-scale festival with loud music near a hospital not only disrupts patient recovery but also creates major traffic congestion, which could delay emergency medical services,” the JSU unit said.

It also criticised the Tourism department for collaborating to host such the event “without considering its impact on public health”.

The JSU urged the authorities concerned to immediately intervene and relocate the event to a more suitable venue.
