Shillong, May 20: The state government has ruled out any scope of an inquiry into the HNLC’s allegation of having nexus with deputy chief minister Snaiawbhalag Dhar in the past.

Speaking to reporters, deputy chief minister in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday said there would not be any inquiry into the recent allegation made by the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) that Dhar was funding the outfit when he was serving as minister in the then Congress-led government.

Speaking to reporters, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong said the government does not feel the need for a probe.

“I stand by the statement made by him (Dhar) only. He has already given a statement that I have no such link or no such payment made (to the HNLC). So, what else can we do? I stood by his statement,” he stated while reacting to the demands made by the VPP and Congress.

“Supposed if some sections of the people are not happy with that, they are free to find out some more information and whatever more they want but as far as the government is concerned, that statement he (Dhar) has given has been accepted,” Tynsong added.

Asked, the deputy CM said, “What inquiry? No, see if we have to bring an inquiry into the allegation, we have thousands of allegations. Are you trying to say we need to have an inquiry into thousands of allegations? You need to understand that ground reality also.”
