The hackathon themed “Northeast Biodiversity” aims at inspiring innovative and technology-driven solutions to address biodiversity challenges specific to North-East.

Despite more than ten participants registering from various parts of the country, the timing of college and university examinations limited actual participation.

A single dedicated team from St Anthony’s College, Shillong, led by assistant professor Dr Damanbha Lyngdoh actively took part in the event and presented thoughtful ideas on biodiversity conservation.

ZSI Shillong in-charge Jennifer Lyngdoh, scientist Dr Uttam Saikia addressed the occasion as a panel of five experts evaluated the team’s presentation. The panel included Dr Krishna Upadhaya from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary from Lady Keane College, alongside experts from ZSI.

The selection of teams for the national round of the Hackathon will be based on the marks scored by different teams across the 16 regional centres of ZSI where similar screening events are being held.
