Shillong, May 30: Minister in-charge Health & Family Welfare Ampareen Lyngdoh on Thursday reaffirmed that Aadhaar seeding is a voluntary decision to be taken by respective citizens.

Speaking to media persons, Lyngdoh informed that all help is being extended by the deputy commissioner’s offices and block offices for Aadhaar seeding of all Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) cards.

She said the department is also reviewing instances where an unregistered family may need emergency care as Aadhaar registry can take up to six months.

“Having said that, we are reviewing the matter on a case-to-case basis. Wherever there is an emergency, we are making sure that we are given all help from DC office, block offices and we are extending as much assistance in the seeding of all of these MHIS cards whenever these emergencies arise in isolated cases,” the minister informed.

“The problem that we had two years ago has more or less been solved and it is not very difficult in this day and age to link your Aadhaar to your MHIS unless of course you don’t have an Aadhaar at all. There, the scenario changes. This is why we encourage the public to register their Aadhaar,” she added further.
