BJP leader R Ashoka demands resignations of Karnataka CM, Dy CM for stampede

Bengaluru, Jun 5: Senior BJP leader R Ashoka on Wednesday demanded resignations of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar following the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Cricket stadium in which 11 people died and over 30 were injured.

He said that there was no doubt that the deaths that occurred in the stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium were “state-sponsored murders”.

“There are suspicions that the hidden fight between the CM Siddaramaiah and the DCM DK Shivakumar has turned into a credit war, leading to today’s chaos,” he alleged in a post on ‘X’.

He further alleged that Shivakumar, who is the deputy chief minister and the minister in-charge of Bengaluru, was supposed to be on site and oversee the arrangements but he instead went to the airport to take photos.

The police were not clear on whether or not the parade would happen until the last minute.

“There are no emergency systems, including ambulances and fire engines, near a stadium that attracts millions of people,” Ashoka alleged.

“Who is responsible for all this? If the CM Siddaramaiah and DCM D K Shivakumar have any humanity or conscience, who have sacrificed innocent people for the sake of their propaganda, they should resign and go home right now,” he added.(PTI)
