Mukul demands fresh exams for police jobs

Shillong, June 6: Leader of the Opposition, Dr Mukul Sangma, has demanded for holding fresh exams for candidates of police jobs following alleged anomalies in the exam conducted by Central Recruitment Board (CRB) of Meghalaya Police recently.

Urging the CRB to take note of concerns raised by candidates, he said, “The process must be declared null and void as far as the written examinations are concerned and candidates must be called to write the exams afresh.”

The former chief minister and present Trinamool Congress MLA said his concern was based on feedback he received directly from candidates and observations shared on social media.

Referring to the job advertisement on March 6, 2024, he said all the parameters required to be followed must be in sync with the set guidelines and the Meghalaya Police Act, 2010.

He also criticised the content of a recent CRB press release, saying, “It had had become a matter of debate, and the narratives circulated are not pleasant to read, reflecting the doubt of the people of the State on the fairness of the process.”
