Shillong, June 23: Investigation into the sensational murder of Indore-based Raja Raghuvanshi at Sohra might go beyond “love triangle”.
“We are yet to come to any conclusion. Let us see from all angles. I am not talking only for the love angle but even beyond that,” said deputy chief minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong told reporters on Monday.
Replying to a query on the motive of murder, Tynsong said, “Right now, I can’t say anything, so let the investigation be completed and once that is done, I think the truth will come out as it is.”
Meanwhile, another three persons were arrested in connection with the case that dented Meghalaya’s image for days till the arrest of Raja’s “missing” wife Sonam and four others including her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha.
“Within few days from now, they will be brought to Shillong for further investigation because it was found that they are linked to this killing,” he added.
Raja Raghuvanshi married Sonam on May 11 in Indore and the couple left for their honeymoon in Meghalaya on May 20.
Both went missing on May 23 and his mutilated body was recovered on June 2 from a deep gorge near a waterfall in Sohra in East Khasi Hills district.
Raja was hacked to death by three men using two machetes near a secluded parking lot close to the famous Weisawdong Falls in Sohra on May 23, the day the couple was reported missing.
Sonam, accused of conspiring with her alleged lover to kill her husband, surrendered on June 8 before the police in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district, while four other accused – Sonam’s alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and his three accomplices Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi – were arrested from different locations in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

All the five are currently in judicial custody in Shillong.
