Tourist guide mandatory for trekking in East Khasi Hills

Shillong, June 30: East Khasi Hills district administration has mandatory for tourists going for trekking in jungle routes the district to avail local tourist guides.

The public advisory issued by deputy commissioner RM Kurbah, also chairperson of District Tourism Promotion Society (DTPS), came in the of the sensational Raja Raghuvanshi murder case.

The DC said the advisory for all trekking activities in the district was issued in the interest of public safety and aims at preventing accidents.

The authorities want to ensure that tourists are properly guided while exploring trekking routes across the region, she said.
