Passengers turn robbers in Garo Hills

Tura, July 21: A driver of a taxi ferrying passengers from Guwahati to Phulbari town in Garo Hills was robbed by the very same people who hired the car early Sunday morning.

The victim, Rajibul Islam of Simlabari, Assam, filed a police report with Phulbari police station informing that three men had hired his Alto-800 car (AS25 BC 6481) on Saturday night around 8:00 PM, from Jhalukbari, Assam to travel to Phulbari Bazaar in the plain belt region of Garo Hills.

However, on reaching Bhaitbari area around 3:00 AM they attacked the driver, snatched Rs.6700/- and a mobile handset before escaping into the darkness. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
