Ampati, Aug 21: In mission mode to empower citizens about their rights to ensure timely access to government services, the district administration of South West Garo Hills hosted the second in a series of awareness programs on the Meghalaya Right to Public Services (MRTPS) Act, 2020, at the Rerapara C&RD Block Office on Thursday.
The program, held under the guidance of ADC in-charge of the Planning Branch, D.B.G. Momin, and Assistant Commissioner & BDO, Rerapara, Armand Ch Momin, focused on informing citizens about the MRTPS Act and the services provided by various departments. BDO Rerapara opened the session with an overview of the Act, detailing services available through the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, including the issuance of certificates, licenses, and society registrations.
Key resource persons included District Informatics Officer, NIC, Eliber A Marak, who demonstrated the functionality of the MRTPS Act web portal, and Labour Inspector Charlene B Marak, who outlined services provided by the Labour Department. Enforcement Inspector Bentham Jeremy R. Marak discussed transport-related services, while Drugs Inspector Wilsay R Marak and Food Safety Officer Junean Norombi Ch Marak highlighted offerings from the Health & Family Welfare Department.
The administration has planned similar awareness programs in Zikzak and Purakhasia blocks in the coming days to further expand outreach and ensure citizens are well-informed about their entitlements under the MRTPS Act, 2020.
