Govt to review policy on security protocol

Shillong, Sep 6: The state government will soon review the policy on security protocol, following the recent arrest of persons impersonating as law enforcement personnel and seizure of airguns from them near the Secretariat.

“With this one exposure, probably now as a government, we will be forced to look at the policies in position and to review them at the earliest,” cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said on Saturday.

Advocating for an end of the “culture of individuals flaunting questionable security paraphernalia”, Lyngdoh said, “We have to stop this culture and arrest immediately. We should disallow ‘Z’ categories as Z categories, ‘Y’ categories as Y categories. There should be no confusion to the public…,” she said.

Appreciating the police for taking swift action in nabbing the culprits, she said Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Home (Police) would soon make a statement once the report is ready.
