New born girl child found abandoned in Williamnagar

Tura, Sept 20: A new born female infant has been found abandoned in a compound in Williamnagar this morning.

The child, still having its umbilical cord attached and wrapped in a piece of cloth, was left outside a residential compound in Nokil Awe locality of the town. She was spotted around 9 AM by residents who alerted police.

Women police arrived at the scene and found the infant alive and quickly shifted her to Williamnagar civil hospital for medical care.

“The matter has been reported to the District Child Protection Officer who will be submitting an FIR accordingly on the matter for case registration against the unknown culprit. Necessary action will be taken up by the Police as per law,” informed district police chief S. Rynjah.
