Justice Soumen Sen takes oath as new CJ of Meghalaya High Court

Shillong, Oct 8: Justice Soumen Sen was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.

The oath of office and secrecy to Justice Sen was administered by the Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar.

The swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Bhavan was attended by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma, cabinet ministers, dignitaries, government officials, and esteemed members of the judiciary.

Justice Sen enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of West Bengal in January 1991 and practiced for over two decades at the Calcutta High Court.

He was elevated as a judge of the Calcutta High Court on April 13, 2011.

Before becoming a judge, Justice Sen served as a Senior Central Government Advocate, representing statutory authorities such as the RBI, SEBI, and SIDBI in various cases, including civil, constitutional, banking, and arbitration disputes.
