Narcotics seized in Garo Hills police raids, accused arrested

Tura, Oct 13: Multiple arrests have taken place and narcotic substances seized in raids conducted by police in the last two days in West Garo Hills district.

The raids were conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of West Garo Hills District.

West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Abraham T Sangma informed that both raids were conducted after receiving credible information about the shiftment of illegal substance by drug peddlers.

He said that on receiving information that two suspected persons were transporting
psychotropic substances from Phulbari towards Tura, the members of the ANTF set
up a Naka checking at Tebronggre village, Soil Compound area, under Rongram police station.

During the operation, two men in a motorcycle ( AS-21B-2847), identified as Johnsbirth R. Marak and Chayang Ch. Marak were intercepted. On being searched, a total of 2,873 capsules of the narcotic drug Senspa+ weighing 1,106.105
grams were recovered from the possession of Johnsbirth R. Marak, and 7
capsules of Senspa+ weighing 2.095 grams were recovered from the possession
of Chayang Ch. Marak. Both accused were apprehended on the spot.

In another operation that took place on 11th October, the ANTF of West Garo Hills
District, conducted a house search at the residence of one Rakizul Sheikh of
Patharkata village in the presence of independent witnesses. The search led to the recovery and seizure of 122 reddish tablets, 10 bottles/1000 ml of Tuscorex
cough syrup, and 6,022 capsules of Syndex Plus.

Members of the general public are being requested by police to remain
vigilant and to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or abuse to the nearest Police Station / Out Post / Beat House or Police Control Room (PCR),
