Bike stolen from Guwahati recovered, four arrested

Shillong, Oct 14: Four persons, including two juveniles, were arrested and a motorcycle stolen from Guwahati was recovered from the gang that fled a police checkpoint at Mawryngkneng in East Khasi Hills district.

The speeding motorcycle (Royal Enfield, AS01 FY 0871) passed through the checkpoint around 10:30 pm and accordingly police ensued a chase, finally finding the motorcycle abandoned at Mookyndur in West Jaintia Hills district.

During a search in the area, four persons identified as Kleston Gympad (32), Behelden Khyriem (20), and two juveniles were arrested.

All the arrested persons hail from Amlari Model village in West Jaintia Hills, district police chief Vivek Syiem said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Besides the motorcycle, a Maruti Alto tourist taxi (ML04 D 4797) was also seized from them.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was stolen from Pan Bazar, Guwahati.

Guwahati City police will be taking custody of the accused, the SP added.
