Panel to assess condition of weighbridges, weigh pads

Shillong, Oct 15: The Meghalaya High Court has ordered constitution of a committee with three members to assess the present condition and functionality of weighbridges and weigh pads across the state.

The high court issued the order while hearing a PIL filed by social activist Tenny Dard M Marak, alleging significant revenue losses due to malfunctioning and inadequate weighbridge facilities.

“We propose to constitute a three-member Committee to find out the present position and status of the weighbridges and weigh pads in the State and if they are all functional,” said the division bench comprising Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice W Diengdoh in its order passed on Tuesday.

“On the prayer of learned counsel for the parties, the matter is adjourned till 16.10.2025 as to be mentioned,” it added.
