Education dept to take measures for girl safety

Shillong, Nov 3: The Education department will collaborate with any government machinery to ensure safety of the girl children in the campus and in the society as a whole, said Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Monday.

The minister also expressed his department’s commitment to students’ well-being, stating, “We welcome any initiative of the state government to see that the well-being of the students… our intention is for the well-being of the students and well-being of the girl child.”

Rymbui emphasised a holistic approach to well-being, encompassing not just education but also daily life.

“When I talk about well-being, it is not only education but also their day-to-day life,” he said.

Regarding specific initiatives, he said, “We welcome all necessary steps taken by the government to ensure the well-being of the girl child, be it in the campus or outside the campus.”
