Kangana Ranaut slams Sonu Sood for defending vendor who spat on food

Mumbai, July 20: Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut shared a post on her X handle to slam actor Sonu Sood for defending a food vendor who spat on a customer’s food. Sonu has been facing criticism for his remarks comparing the food vendor to the Shabri episode in the Ramayana.

Calling out Sonu Sood, Kangana wrote on X, “Next you know Sonu ji will direct his own Ramayana based on his own personal findings about God and religion. Wah kya baat hai Bollywood se ek aur Ramayana (sic).”

The original post read, “SHOCKING NEWS Bollywood actor Sonu Sood justifies spitting in people’s food. He equates spitting on food by a miscreant with Lord Ram eating Shabri’s berries. He said ‘if Lord Ram could eat Shabri’s berries, why can’t he eat rotis that have been spat upon?’ He defended the act of spitting by describing it as an act of ‘Humanity’. He said ‘Humanity must remain intact.”

For the unversed, the controversy began when an X user posted a clip of a boy spitting on dough while making chapatis. This video was a reaction to Sonu Sood’s post about a new rule requiring restaurants along the Kanwar Yatra route to publicly display the names of their owners.

Reacting to the post, a user commented, “The roti smeared with spit should be parcelled to Sonu Sood, so that brotherhood remains intact.”

Sonu responded, “Our Shri Ram Ji ate the sour berries of Shabri, so why can’t I eat them? Violence can be defeated by non-violence, my brother. Humanity must just remain intact. Jai Shri Ram.”
