Prince Harry saves Royal Family from further embarrassment by cancelling Spare film rights

London, July 20: Prince Harry has saved the Royal Family from additional embarrassment by cancelling film rights to a potential adaptation of Spare, it has been claimed.

The Duke of Sussex’s bombshell memoir, Spare was released back in January 2023 and became the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever on its first day of release.

The book made headlines due to details about his ongoing feud with the Royal Family, as well as his remarks about his time in Afghanistan – included the number of people he had killed while out in action.

As reported by the Mail, sources claim that Harry owns rights to the lucrative film, as well as television and stage rights to Spare.

These prevent anyone from dramatising the book, apart from Harry – who stepped down as a senior working royal in 2020.

As reported by GB News, the rights were secured by Harry to prevent anyone from portraying the late Princess Diana and Meghan Markle in ways that do not concur with his own views.

It remains unknown whether a film adaptation was on the cards, but Harry and Meghan still have their ongoing multi-million-pound deal with Netflix.

The couple signed the five-year deal back in 2020, just months after stepping down from royal duty and moving to the US.

Harry and Meghan are currently working on two separate shows, both as part of their Netflix deal.
