Ampati, Jan 26: Together with the rest of the Nation, the 77th Republic Day was celebrated on Monday at Ampati, headquarter of South West Garo Hills and all the four C&RD blocks of the district with patriotic fervour.
At the ceremonial function held at Ampati Students’ Field, Health, Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla unfurled the Tricolour and took the Rashtriya Salute before 10 parade contingents led by Smt. Ririti Wankhar.

Presentation of tableau by nine government departments & agencies, cultural performances, sports & games for children and distribution of food packets were the highlights of the day’s celebration.
The Minister along with MLA of Ampati Smt. Miani D. Shira, MDCs Stevie M. Marak and Sanjay Koch handed over awards & certificates of excellence to the best PHC (Belbari PHC), best Village Health Council (Tara para VHC), best performing AWCs under Betasing & Zikzak ICDS projects and also certificates of appreciation to outstanding government employees of the district.

Prizes for the three best tableaus and best parade contingents were also handed over to the winners by the dignitaries.
At Zikzak C&RD Block, Sanjay A. Sangma unfurled the National flag and inspected the parade. He also handed over an Ambulance to the Jama Masjid Committee of Mahendraganj on the occasion.
